Heavy-Duty Towing

Specially designed for the serious tower, this fifth-wheel trailer hitch mounts directly to your medium-duty, cab-and-chassis-style truck for absolute stability and maximum towing capacity. This hitch is not intended for light-duty pickup trucks, and its towing capacity will be limited to the gross towing weight rating of your vehicle. Installation of the Reese low-profile fifth-wheel trailer hitch may require welding and moderate fabrication to ensure that the hitch is connected either directly to your vehicle's frame or to a substantial steel support structure that connects to the frame. Do not fasten to your truck's floor only.

Reese Double Jaw

Secure, 2-Piece Jaw

Unlike the more economical slide-bar models, the rounded, 2-piece jaw on this fifth-wheel trailer hitch inhibits rattle and movement by securely wrapping around your trailer's king pin, resulting in easier hookup and a safer, quieter ride.

Not the fault of E-trailer, but Reese. Product was not usable out of the box without repair work from a certified welder to fix misaligned jaw in cradle. Reese needs to do some serious QC on this product at their production facility.

by:

heavy and strong! But terrible design. Forward and back pivots smooth but side to side the fifth wheel moves on a half moon under two pins... first time out I thought I was loosing the trailer. Every corner expect a slam and your truck to shift. Its embarrassing to ride around with a truck that sounds like it’s going to fall apart. Would not recommend.

Took almost a week before etrailer shipped it, but then it arrived within couple days.

Great hitch, perfect for those with Flatbed Trucks.

Easy installation, to flatbed platform. Great hitch, I have towed over 100 5thwheels with it this past yr. I like how it will automatically open, then reclose when you back up up to connect. Components of the hitch are really tight when new, but seems to work better after a few uses and continued lube spraying. Overall very satisfied..

So overall this is a good hitch but would recommend an upgrade. I own a 2005 Freightliner Sportchassis. I pull a 14k fifth wheel. The hitch is an overall good design. The Sportchassis has predrilled holes already in place to fit this hitch. No drilling necessary. The only problem that I have with it is the side to side motion of the hitch head is very abrupt. The fore and aft movement is very smooth. The hitching and releasing is good. The hitch is built solidly. The head assembly rides on 4 metal roller assemblies and is supposed to roll left and right. With weight pulling on the head it rubs against the metal on the frame and provides excessive friction for the head. Once the trailer pivots enough, the head slams against the roller pins and sounds like the trailer is gonna break free. A very disturbing sound. My previous hitch was a b&w in a f250 and it was smooth as silk. The hitch does provide all that I need from it. With comparison to the other MDT hitches on the market it is the cheapest. I will probably with time upgrade to another hitch but it does provide what I need it for. If you are trying to save money on a MDT hitch, it works. If money is not an issue I would probably look at alternatives.

Purchase and shipping was a breeze. Reese hitch had poor QC. I had to have the side panels re-tapped as all 4 bolt holes were full of slag from the welding process. Once the frame was mounted, the top head would not drop in as designed. The use of a wood block and a sledge solved the problem. The ears for the pins were slightly bent in. Although the powder coat is good (partial cause why the head didn't drop in) the thickness caused problems getting the handle on. I had the drill out the handle and sand down the shaft. A bit more work than I expected. Looks to be strong and safe at this time. Once installed, it works as designed. Just be prepared to add some time to the installation.

by:

This unit will work just fine on my Kenworth for pulling my triple axel 5th travel trailer. It will set just at the height I need.

by:

FYI Y'all need to get the dimensions right the base plate is not 20 1/4 inches center to center left to right it's 19 1/4 inches with the brackets flipped in and 15" on center front to back. Brackets flipped out would be 22 1/2 inches on center with brackets out.

by:

The shipping was fast and it got here very timely but I have not installed the product as of yet to let you know what I think about the hitch but will update once it’s installed.

by:

This is the second 5th wheel my company has bought for hauling cars in two years and both are the same model. They are working great and won't buy any other one for my company.

After several local rv stores said they did not have hitch that would work for my 2005 c4500 I found this hitch on etrailer. It was heavier, 25000 lbs capable, than
The local dealers (16000). I called etrailer and they were extremely helpful. I needed this quickly and was going to spend the money to have it overnighted but the lady asked where I lived. When I said central Missouri she said they could send it regular mail and I would get it the next day at no extra cost. It arrived as promised and it was easy to install. etrailer is the only place I will use for trailer parts. Great company and great service, they know what they are talking about!

  • Towing a 5th Wheel Trailer with a Truck That Has a Recessed Gooseneck Hitch
To tow a 5th wheel trailer with your truck that has a Hauler bed and a recessed gooseneck hitch installed, there are a few different options. Since the goosneck hitch is already installed the easiest way would be to adapt either the truck or trailer so you can hook up and tow. The first option is an adapter that replaces your pin box on your trailer. They are specifically designed to fit certain pin boxes, but this is the most secure permanent solution. The only option we have for your cab/chassis is the Reese Low Profile 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch, part # RP30054. This hitch has a 30,000-lb gross towing capacity. Installation of this hitch requires it to be installed directly through a 1/2 inch steel plate under the deck. The plate must be welded to brackets that are bolted to the truck frame and should be done by a qualified professional.

Hello Arash. Thank you for all the information, it is most helpful. The VIN confirmed that it is a 2015 Ford F-350 Cab and Chassis. For your 2015 Ford F-350 Cab and Chassis there is not a bolt on application. Your best bet would be to get the Center Section for B&W Turnoverball Underbed Gooseneck Hitch - 30,000 lbs # BWGNRC800, this would need to be fabricated to work. In order to install a 5th wheel trailer hitch on a flat bed, there are some alternate installation methods that must be followed. It will be a complete custom install that will need to be done by a qualified professional with experience doing these types of installations. The rails will need to be bolted and welded to a 1/2 inch steel plate. The hardware will need to reach through the rails, the plate above the bed, through the bed, and then through a second 1/2 inch thick steel plate...

  • Recommended 5th Wheel Hitch for 2007 Ram 3500 Cab-and-Chassis
The best fifth-wheel hitch option for your 2007 Ram 3500 cab-and-chassis model is the Reese Low-Profile 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # RP30054. This particular hitch is designed specifically for cab-and-chassis trucks because of its low height settings (9-1/2 inches to 12-1/2 inches) that allows it to work well for the taller beds that are on these types of trucks. It also features a robust towing capacity of 30,000 pounds and you won't need to install separate base rails because it mounts directly...

  • Solution for Towing 5th Wheel With Goosneck Hitch on Flatbed Truck
It sounds like you still want to be able to use a 5th wheel hitch with your flatbed with the built in gooseneck hitch it has. Unfortunately, without the B&W gooseneck hitch you will be unable to use the Companion. The Companion head is also not compatible with something like the Patriot base that would work with industry standard rails. My recommendation is the use an adapter like the Convert-A-Ball Cushioned 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Adapter # CAB-C5G. This will bolt onto your king pin...

For the gooseneck I recommend using the Curt Gooseneck Flat Plate # C65500. This plate is universal and it is generally attached to the flat bed or directly to the frame using grade 5 or higher bolts. This hitch is recommended to put the king pin 4 inches ahead of the rear axle. There are specific 5th wheel hitches for flat bed trucks and no installation kits because of how the hitches must install. As an example take a look at flat bed hitch # RP30054. To install the hitch a 1/2 inch thick steel plate has to be professionally welded to the truck frame below the flat bed. Then the hitch can be bolted to that plate. A hitch or rails cannot mount to just the bed because the bed is not strong enough in most cases for 5th wheel towing.
